About Bob Ross
Bob Ross Artist (October 29, 1942 – July 4, 1995)
Bob Ross has been loved worldwide for his television program 'The Joy
of Painting'. Born in America, Bob spent many years in Alaska during his career in the services, where his inspiration for his typical landscapes of mountains, lakes, snow and the log cabins were born.
Bob came into the heart of thousands of people with his regular painting show 'The Joy of Painting' and continues to inspire people to pick up a paint brush long after his passing in 1995. Bob learnt his skill from Bill Alexander and could often be heard making reference to Bill.
Using a 'wet on wet' technique combined with the use of specially designed large brushes, painting knives and fan brushes, Bob has developed a method of painting that enables complete beginers to achieve a pleasing picture.
Bob had a firm belief that everyone has artistic talent, they just have not been shown how to use it. During his 'Joy of Painting' show Bob would often make reference to the fact that anyone can become an accomplished artist with practice, time and encouragement. Mistakes did not happen in Bobs world, just 'happy little accidents'.
Bob was an animal lover and would often rescue injured animals, nurturing them back to good health. Bob could often be seen during his show caring for his latest find. You can catch up with Bob on sky Discovery Real Time with his 'Joy of Painting' series.
